Information for visitors

Location
The Halve Maen is located on the south part of the Oostereiland (Eastern Island), at the Centrum Varend Erfgoed (Centre of Sailing Heritage), where it’s in good company is of historic fishing and cargo ships.

Plan your visit
You will be welcomed in the atmospheric Centrum Varend Erfgoed museum. There you can see and learn more about the ship Halve Maen and about the harsh life of the sailors on the former Zuiderzee (Southern sea, now called IJsselmeer).
If you made a reservation for a guided tour, your admission ticket is the start time of your tour on the Halve Maen. In 4 stages our guides take you through the entire ship and they tell you the stories about the sailors’ life in the golden age. This tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Reservation in advance
The Halve Maen can be visited on openingdays from 12.00 – 17.00 hrs. Because we want to make your visit a real experience, we limit the number of visitors to a maximum of 40 per hour. There are guided tours at 1, 2 and 3 pm. To be sure of a place on the guided tour you can make a reservation. You can do that online.

You can also visit the ship without a guide. There is an audiotour available.
